I am pleased to announce that as of today, Oct 5 2007, Adoptioneducationclasses.com is fully operational. I would lke to thank all of those families that had patiently beta tested the site before the launch.

In this class you will begin to understand why so many children that live in orphanages have some degree of developmental delay. Issues discussed will be, orphanage caregivers daily habits that can cause delays. You will also understand the effects of social, medical and psychological neglect. All of these components are the root causes of developmental delays in the Internationally adopted child.

What to Expect After Arriving Home With Your IA Child

This course will help you to determine what to expect at each developmental stage when adopting internationally.
This course will:
* Prepare you for challenges you may encounter and how to increase a smoother transition
* Deal with cultural differences and institutional background issues
* Explores reasons for placement in orphanage or foster home and the medical and behavioral effects
* Discuss common post-arrival issues to look out for
* Explore your child’s developmental stages
* Give guidance on what to do upon arriving home
* Address limit setting and introducing structure
* Help to determine an appropriate educational placement for your child
* Identify when and where to seek professional assistance for your child

Post-Adoption Supervision:In the Ethiopian Adoption Process
Cost: $25.00
For those interested in adopting from Ethiopia this training, taught by a social worker who has volunteered in an orphanage in Ethiopia while accompanying her client to receive her child, will prepare you for post-placement meetings with a social worker when you return home from Ethiopia. It is offered to make adoptive parents feel comfortable with the process. Completion of supervision is mandatory if you wish to adopt your Ethiopian child in America . Satisfactory completion of this course counts as one course towards the mandatory 10 courses required by the Department of Homeland Security, Citizenship and Immigration Services; your adoption agency and Ethiopia.

Post-Placement Supervision: A Necessary Step in Adoption
Cost: $25.00
SUMMARY: The Department of Homeland Security,Citizenship and Immigration Services requires that upon placement of your child you meet with a social worker in your home to evaluate your child's adjustment and functioning and your adjustment to parenthood.

This course is offered as a training to prepare you for those most important visits with a social worker. This course is of particular importance to those families who wish to adopt or re-adopt in America as it is these post-placement supervisory visits and the reports that your social worker writes which are submitted to your local court and serve as the foundation for review of your request for finalization of your adoption.

This Class is 1 Credit Hour of Adoption Education.

In this class Dr. Rogu will help you to understand issues related to International travel to pick up your adopted child. Topics that will be covered are issues pertaining to: Parent Health,Traveling with Other Children,Managing Health Problems while abroad,What to Medical Supplies to Bring Additional Travel Tips, Meeting the Child He will also go over many of the immediate transition problems that are often experienced by adoptive families, such as sleeping, feeding, bathing and the institutional behaviors exhibited by a newly adopted child. And he will also go over the importance of the Post-Arrival Visit to the Adoption Pediatrician.

Medical and psychological concerns with International Adoptions

What you need to know about the common medical conditions in Internationally Adopted children?
In this two part course Dr James Reilly has distilled all of the vital information that every parent needs to know about the host of medical conditions that their newly adopted child may be bringing into their parents homes. You will learn about all the conditions which must be checked for to avert potential medical misadventures. Examples of such conditions, infectious disease, developmental delays,institutional behaviors.

This Course qualifies for 2 Credit Hours of Adoption Education.
Foundation of Love Part 1

The Foundation of Love class focuses on ways that parents can strengthen their bond with their children through positive and fun activities. It emphasizes simple things that parents can do to emotionally nurture their child, whether a toddler or a teenager.

Techniques covered in Part 1 include: the power of your words, a unique way to praise, conveying your love effectively, filling our children's "love account," the balance of love and discipline, and building children's self-esteem.

Foundation of Love Part 2

Setting the emotional tone of your household, making positive predictions for your children, discovering and encouraging the special and unique qualities of each child, the importance of your expectations for your children's behavior, considering children's feelings, and how to play with your children.
Building a strong foundation of love now, makes disciplining easier, later.

A Parental approach to the Pre-Adoption Medical Records Evaluation

Medical Records Evaluation are becoming ever so common. Understand the complex issues of this process and how the adoption doctors are able to analyze the limited data and assign a risk category. In this class Dr. Rogu will also teach you "how to become an adoption doctor" and collect and prepare the medical data and video footage for evaluation back home by an International Adoption Medical records specialist while you are are still overseas with your blind referral.
